About
There is more to Greenwood than most people have heard.

The Williams family, early Greenwood business owners, driving their 1911 Norfolk through Greenwood.
Black Wall Street Tours, Inc. is a Tulsa-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that teaches the history of Greenwood and North Tulsa. Our mission is to preserve the stories and materials connected to that history and make them available to the public and future generations.
We bring people closer to the lives behind the history: the people who built Greenwood, the generations who came after them, and the stories that have been carried forward in families and across the community.

Black Wall Street Tours grew from Princetta Rudd Newman's relationship to Greenwood. Her family has been in Tulsa for four generations. She is a descendant of Greenwood business owners and a first-generation descendant of survivors of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.
Princetta grew up hearing family stories, learned from Greenwood elders, knew many of the people and places herself, and spent decades working in North Tulsa.
Princetta began taking visitors through Greenwood in the 1960s. Over time, the stories she carried were joined by photographs, funeral programs, newspapers, family records, and other materials people shared with her. That is the foundation of Black Wall Street Tours.
